FAQ's - Which category best describes how your skin feels & looks?

Break-out Prone Skin

Characterized by breakouts on, or under, the surface of the skin.  Whiteheads, blackheads, irritation and redness can appear.  More than ever before adults are suffering with oily and acneic skin conditions.  Dermalogica’s professional MediBac Clearing series of treatments will focus on treating, clearing and preventing breakouts.

Oily Skin

The skin looks shiny and suffers from increased congestion.  Our professional skin treatment will focus on deep-cleansing, purifying and controlling oil.

Normal/Oily Skin

This skin type is characterized by a dry, tight feeling in the cheek and jaw areas.  However the rest of the face may feel balanced.

Dry Skin

Dry skin is characterized by tightness, flakiness, dehydration, lack of oil with the appearance of fine lines and dullness.  Dermalogica’s professional skin treatment will focus on cleansing, exfoliation, hydration and brightening dull, dry skin.

Sensitized Skin

The skin is characterized by redness, a chapped or dry appearance, or by skin that looks irritated or flushed.  Our professional skin treatment will focus on gentle cleansing, calming soothing protecting irritated skin.

Mature or Prematurely-Aging

From the age of 25, our skin moisture levels and skin cell renewal starts to drop causing the skin to become more dehydrated and dry.  Mature or prematurely-aging skin is characterized by loss of elasticity and firmness and is often dehydrated.  Wrinkles are deeper, and hyper pigmentation may be prominent.

Pigmented/Sun-damaged/Scarred Skin

This skin type may have many fine lines, milia (whiteheads), blackheads, enlarged pores, acne pitting and uneven skin colouring resulting from environment damage such as sun exposure and pollution, acne scarring, pigmentation from hormones and general neglect.  Dermalogica’s ChromaWhite TRx® series of treatments rapidly delivers visible brightening and improved skin tone while improving skin health.  It treats your hyper pigmentation safely, without worrying about suffering from irritation or damage that can lead to premature aging.

Men’s Skin

Men’s skin can still be categorized into one of the above skin types but is generally slightly different to women’s skin.  Men’s skin may react to shaving by becoming red and sore, sometimes resulting in a spotty rash and can be further aggravated with an active lifestyle outdoors in direct environmental conditions such as sun exposure.  As a result, Men’s skin often shows sign of stress and premature wrinkles.  The Dermalogica Shave system offers a complete regimen to guarantee not only the closest shave possible, but also your healthiest skin ever.

UV Protection

Even if exposure is limited to brief outdoor lunches or a 20-minute walk, cumulative exposure is enough to cause the signs of skin aging. The first line of daily defence against sun damage is daily use of SPF.  Even on cloudy or overcast days, UV light can strike skin and cause damage, so simply wearing sunscreen on sunny days isn’t enough.  Our professional skin therapist can advise you of SPF moisturizers that can be worn comfortably under make-up, or alone to deliver defence against skin aging UV light.

Delicate Eyes

The most prominent eye area concerns include wrinkles (crow’s feet), puffiness (under eye bags), dark circles due to hyper pigmentation, and skin sensitivity due to dehydration.  The skin around the eye area is thinner and more delicate than anywhere else so when treating these issues, it is important to take care not to use anything that will cause irritation.  Dermalogica Eye Treatments deliver a uniquely effective level of preventative care and protection from future assaults without over-stimulating this delicate area.

So whatever your skin type we can recommend the best Dermalogica products to jump start your healthy skin care regimen.
